Best and worst energy companies revealed

There's shocking news on the energy front - we're actually relatively
satisfied with our energy provider. A new report from uSwitch shows that
there are some areas where they all need to buck up, like customer service
and getting us the best deal, but on balance they'll doing much better than
this time last year.
of course there are always exceptions to the rule. So who are the best and
worst energy companies in the UK?

The best supplier for customer service is SSE (Scottish and Southern
Energy). It's the seventh year in a row it has taken the title, with 79% of
customers satisfied, a 5% increase on last year. Half its customers (50%)
are satisfied that it has them on its best deal - higher than any other
supplier - and it also comes top for value for money, customer service,
billing and for customers prepared to recommend it to a friend. The most improved for customer satisfaction is ScottishPower, which boosted
results by 10% to move from 5th to 3rd place this year, with 73% overall
satisfaction.

EDF Energy has also improved overall satisfaction levels dramatically - by
8%, enough to see it move up from 3rd into 2nd place this year. 75% of
customers are satisfied with the supplier and it tops the league for reward
schemes, being energy efficient and for a slick transfer process. It also
comes 2nd for customer service and 2nd for offering value for money after an
11% increase in its score. Meanwhile, those slipping down the table include British Gas, which has
moved 4th to 5th place despite seeing overall customer satisfaction go up by
7% to 73%, its highest ever score. It comes 1st for meter services and
achieves 2nd place for billing. Tellingly, it also comes 2nd for customers
prepared to recommend it to a friend, which suggests that the supplier is
doing better than its 5th position for overall satisfaction indicates. Areas
of weakness are in offering value for money, best deal and a smooth transfer
process. http://www.walletpop.co.uk/2010/09/14/best-and-worst-energy-companies-reveal
