DECC awards £21m to 61 low #carbon projects http://www.energy-broker.co.uk/decc-awards-21m-to-61-low-carbon-projects/

The Department of Energy and Climate change (DECC) has awarded £21m in funding to UK entrepreneurs aiming to bring a range of low carbon products to market.

The funding is made up of £16m awarded via the Energy Entrepreneurs Fund, £2m through the first phase of Energy Storage Competitions, and the final £3m by the Advanced Heat Storage scheme. The three schemes are intended to create export opportunities and help the UK to meet its carbon targets whilst supporting jobs.

The Energy Entrepreneurs Fund, which is part of a £35m fund announced in April 2012, awarded a share of the £16m funding to 30 projects in its first phase.

The investment aims to support energy efficiency technologies such as building control systems, advanced lighting systems, and space heating and cooling technologies. Power generation and energy storage technologies including fuel cells, biomass boilers and heat pumps will also receive support via the scheme.
