The £2,000 fuel bill: Energy prices could soar by 60% by 2021, say experts as wholesale costs rocket

Energy bills could rise by as much as 60 per cent over the next ten years - plunging ever more customers into fuel poverty, industry experts have predicted.

Analysts warn that average electricity tariffs could increase by £300 a year to £800, while gas prices may jump from £845 to more than £1,300.

The hikes, being blamed on rising wholesale prices and the need to invest in green technology, would force total annual bills through the £2,000 mark, more than £700 higher than today's rates.
