Fury at energy giant E.ON’s staggering 1.5% credit card fee


E.ON last night confirmed those forced to pay gas and leccy bills on the plastic will now face a 1.5 per cent charge.

More than 300,000 of its five million customers will be hit by the move — which will add £18 to the typical £1.260 annual dual fuel bill.

It comes after a review by the company this summer which boasted of a crusade to “put customers at the very heart of our business”. One who contacted The Sun declared: “I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. How can they get away with this?”

E.ON has pledged to freeze gas and electricity prices until the end of the year — despite each of its big five rivals pushing through inflation-busting increases.
