Tide turns for harnessing new energy as government invests in marine energy projects

Britain's wave and tidal energy industry yesterday received a major government boost to help the green technologies grow.

The Technology Strategy Board and Scottish Enterprise are investing more than £6.5m in seven research projects to support marine energy.

Between the northern tip of Scotland and the Orkney Islands is Pentland Firth, a five-mile stretch of water that marks the meeting point between the Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea.
