Bakers Warburtons has announced plans to potentially install renewables on its properties around the UK.
The business, founded in Bolton in 1876, reveals in its first Corporate Responsibility Review published today (January 5) that it currently sources no power at all from renewables. However, according to the report that is all set to change with plans for solar, wind and Anaerobic Digestion (AD) all mooted. The report states the business, which has locations in Bolton, London, Nottingham and elsewhere, has a total roof space of 1.27m square feet making installing solar 'a real possibility'. Although the report makes no reference to Feed-In Tariffs (FITs), which could have benefitted the business had it invested in solar earlier. It does though indicate wind 'may also be an option' for some of its bakeries.
