Industry backs gas as 'vital' to UK energy future

MPs heard today how gas remained the main driver for the future of the UK's energy supply.

According to the Energy Networks Association (ENA) the UK needs a flexible energy mix and incentives for investment are 'essential' to meet future energy demands.

But, in the meantime gas will have to remain the power source of choice, despite a lack of investment in Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), according to the ENA.

The plea came as the ENA gave evidence to the Energy and Climate Change Select Committee inquiry 'The UKs Energy Supply: security or independence?'
